NEOPRENE RUBBER
A polymer of chloroprene@ it is used as an adhesive base. Commonly used where oil and gasoline resistance is required. Resistance to swelling action of aromatics (pure and in fuels) is poor@ but much better than natural rubber. Also used to coat doctor or metering rolls.

NOTCHER
A hand or hydraulic bench tool used to cut a notch out of the back of a steel rule die blade. The cutout notch in the blade fir around the wood bridge in a steel rule dieboard. The bridge in the dieboard allows the die to stay in one piece and not fall apart.

(1) Indentations in the bottom of rotary cutting rule to facilitate curving of the rule to conform with the die cylinder.

(1) Cutting out a section on the back edge of rule to fit over a bridge left in the dieboard. Bridging sometimes used interchangeably. (2) Cutting or forming a notch into the edge of a cutting blade for use as a location indicator to match different component parts together for final assembly.
