LABEL DIES
LABEL DIES
A die that is used to die cut labels. It could be a forged type die to cut high layers of labels or a steel type die to cut single layers of labels in multiple configurations.
LABEL STOCK
Pressure sensitive laminate form which labels are produced usually refers to roll stock.

LAMINATED WOOD
LAMINATED WOOD
plywood used in making steel rule dies. It is made of different ply thoroughly seasoned and glued together@ usually with the grain of the different ply at right angles to prevent warping and shrinking.
LASER
"(1) A device that uses the principle of amplification of electromagnetic waves by stimulated emission of radiation and operates in the infrared@ visible@ or ultraviolet region. (2) A device that produces an intense@ coherent amid directional beam of light by stimulating or molecular transition to lower energy levels. The term laser is an acronym for ""Light Amplification by Simulated Emission of Radiation""."
LASER
LASER DIE MAKING
LASER DIE MAKING
Using a numerically controlled laser to cut the slots or a kerf into dieboard as a part of the process of manufacturing a laser steel rule die. The rule is inserted in the conventional manner.
LASER HARDENING
Laser-beam traversal of metal to harden a self-quenching process producing the maximum hardness for most metals. See TRANSFORMING HEATREATING.
LASER HARDENING
LEAD EDGE
LEAD EDGE
(1) The front edge of a die used on web fed presses. (2) First portion of blank to come in contact with die.
LEAD KNIFE
The long horizontal piece of straight rule which is the first to cut into the material as it goes through the press.
LEAD KNIFE
LETTER PRESS
LETTER PRESS
System of oil ink printing using a raised surface transferring the design directly from the plate to the substrate. Available sheet fed and web fed.
